Old Street Area Guide
A guide to Old Street
By RNR Group
The Old Street roundabout has seen such an influx of tech businesses that it is now playfully known as The Silicon Roundabout. There is also a high concentration of financial and professional services firms, in the direction of the City, making the area a perfect mix of old and cutting edge. However, despite the professional working atmosphere, Old Street is still a buzz with creativity. It is famed as an epicentre of activity for the elusive street artist Banksy, and there are many boutique shops, café and bars.
St Agnes Well, the shopping centre underneath the roundabout, is a subterranean melting pot of hip and traditional shops and food vendors. Amongst others it is the home of Camden Lock Books, a well-loved independent bookstore that specialises in art and culture, and Nincomsoup which makes delicious freshly made soups.
Food and Drink
Above ground there are also many exciting dining options. Slice And More does amazing arancini balls, whilst Bone Daddies is innovative Japanese food served to the back drop of old school rock music. Shoreditch Grind, located on the roundabout, is a great place for coffee or a cocktail and XOYO is a stone’s throw away if you want to dance to renowned DJs.
Old Street Station is well placed for transport connections to both the City and West End, and its close proximity to Shoreditch and Hoxton makes it a prime location for any creative business.
